Paul is Home!

Paul was busy all the time in the hospital. Student nurses came to visit - pretty ones!  Eva was always checking out his equipment. Even his two Aunts, Bonnie and Ramona, came from Sacramento for the afternoon to see us.  The up close of the leg shows you the external fixator bars.  In place of a cast on the leg (which can't be used because of swelling) the fixator bars were drilled into 4 places and held his leg in an exact position.  They were on for 5 weeks, allowing the artery graft to heal.

This picture was taken after Pauls first surgery. Julie and Eva came from Seattle to help and comfort him.  Eva was a real joy and distraction. She wanted to use everything, walker,crutches, she loved walking the halls and waving to nurses.

Event that changed our lives

I took this from the porch of the cabin at June Lake. Tom and Paul were getting ready to go skiing/snowboarding and were scraping Pauls new car.

Sorry about all the beam pictures but we are all wires and pipes in the walls and nothing to show. This is a beam with knee braces in the corner of a covered deck. They have a three part stain process - this one is finished. We have had the first doors arrive and next week the windows should show up. They will be in after the flashing and moisture proofing is done, then stained. Once windows and exterior doors are on the house will be considered 'dried in' and we can start wall board.

This is one of the four lift and slide doors that were delivered. It's on it's side in the garage waiting to be stain to match the beams.

This is the opening in the living room that will be lift and slide doors. Half the space will open the other half will be glass doors.

A little bit of Aix at Christmas. The street in front of our apartment, Cours Mirabeau.

Inspection today of the roof wood sheeting. Now we will tar paper it and 'load the roof', meaning put the tiles on it for the weight so we dont have cracked plaster later. Almost ready to 'dry in' the house, I think that means to add the tyvek on the outside and sort of water proof the structure so that drywall inside can start.
